ReaLife Kids

MISSION AND VISION

We consider our children to be a gift from God.  Our mission is to provide an age-appropriate program that is scripturally based and that acknowledges Jesus as the living Savior.   Our goal is to lead children to know, love, and follow Jesus by living out their faith in everything they do.  We believe that parents are responsible for the spiritual nurturing of their children.  As parents shepherd their children through Scripture, our ministry serves as reinforcement to their teaching.  We are committed to seeing families know and love God.  Therefore, we desire to partner with parents as the primary spiritual leaders to minister to their children effectively.

We believe that God created each child to enjoy knowing Him and to fulfill his/her calling to build the local church.  We believe that the same is true for each child’s parent/guardian.  During our Sunday morning services, we offer ReaLife Kids to provide a safe, loving, and pleasant place for kids while parents participate in worship.

GENERAL INFO

In ReaLife Kids, children experience Biblical stories and discussions, prayer time, positive play, and creative crafts.  We desire for families to learn and grow together, hence, all ReaLife Kids curriculum material is produced within our community and coincides with the current sermon series.

ReaLife Kids occurs for all children ages 6 weeks through 5th grade.  The children are divided up into 2 groups to ensure age-appropriate play and lessons.  At present, ReaLife Kids has 2 main groups:

  • Infants (6 weeks – 2 years old)
  • Pre-School (3 years – 10 years old)

Once enrollment in our children’s program increases, we will be splitting up our pre-school into 2 classes.  Pre-School will consist of children ages 3-4 years old, and School-Age will consist of children 5-10 years old.

All children are encouraged to join the congregation for worship before going to their classrooms.  Children ages 3-10 years will be lead out by their teachers during the last song of worship.  Parents can take their infants - 2year olds to their classroom at this time.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON  SUNDAY

CHECK IN

Parents will check in their children at the check-in station before entering the main sanctuary.  Parents will receive a receipt tag, which allows them to pick up their child at the conclusion of the service.  Parents must have a receipt tag in order to pick up their child.  Children are only permitted to leave their classroom when a parent/guardian presents the appropriate receipt tag to the teacher.  The teacher will then match the tag with the classroom roster, and have the parent/guardian sign their child out of the classroom.

CLASSES:

INFANTS – 2 YEARS OLD:

The Infant room is staffed by dedicated workers.  All ReaLife Kids volunteers have been screened, interviewed, and trained.  The children will engage in positive playtime and story time.  Since infants and toddlers learn through play, most of their time will be spent exploring and interacting with each other, while playing with a variety of toys.

PRE-SCHOOL (3yr-10yr old)

The Pre-School room is staffed by dedicated, talented individuals.  All ReaLife Kids volunteers have been screened, interview, and trained.  Our teachers will begin this class with a prayer time.  Directly after this, the children will be engaged in a “circle time”, which entails a review of last week’s lesson and memory verse, current theme of the day, and memory verse for the week.  The children will then move to the tables, where a memory verse worksheet is completed.  Afterwards, the children will move back the rugs and the teacher will read the bible story for the day.  Topics related to the story are discussed real-life applications are examined.  The art project is introduced, and the children then move back to the tables to complete their project.  To conclude their time, the children will have a final review and prayer time.  A management system is included throughout class time.  Behavior bucks can be earned, and then turned in for a prize at the end of each lesson.
